Alpenfest is an event as a kid that I loved. I loved going into the old Edelweiss hall and watching the musicians play their long (and I mean 16 ft (or so) ) long horns and the yoddling. Truth be told, I might have tried to imitate their yoddling when I got home. We also would eat blueberry pancakes and bratwursts. Yum!
Alpenfest took a break for a couple of years due to the inability to find a committee that would take it over, so it was a much felt missing event for our tourism based business that knew that Alpenfest drew out our season a few more weeks into fall.
A group of merchants from Joseph saw the same thing that we felt and went to work on reviving Alpenfest.
The dates are Sept 27 - 30th. It will start later afternoon Thursday in Joseph with the Alping Antique Fair, Arts and Crafts Fair and then move to the lake beginning noon on Friday featuring live music by the Polkatones and food Friday evening at the Thunder Room in Joseph. Breakfast will be Saturday and Sunday mornings with more music at the lake Saturday.
The big news for Alpenfest 2012? This year they will have local made beers, wines, and our very own bratwursts!
Make your reservations early, this is going to be a BIG EVENT and thank you Joseph Merchants for bringing back this historic event so I can share it with my children!
Until next time, Cindi

SNOW SNOW SNOW!!! We finally have snow! It is absolutely beautiful today with the snow falling.
We are expecting 6 - 10 inches today and we are so over due for it!
We did have a chance to go to Salt Creek a few weeks ago and spent the day zipping around. We haven't had a chance to take the kids yet, maybe next weekend we can take them too. Coy is so excited to go this year because he has his own ride this year and won't be sitting behind his Dad.
Wherever you are during this storm, we hope you stay safe!
Until next time, Cindi

Arrowhead Chocolates is one of my favorite stores in Joseph! They have the best chocolates (obviously!), but they also offer really great coffee and chai tea.
Arrowhead Chocolates has a fun little story. Erica and her parents Bruce and Wendy all have different things they bring to the relationship and the thriving business. Erica has a graphic arts degree, Wendy was a teacher, counselor, and has a head for numbers, and Bruce used to be a fish biologist who are very detail oriented. Together, these three bring a different aspect to the table, which lends to a fantastic little business!
The shop is cute, cozy, and fun. Tables are around for those that make it there first, but everytime I have been in there, people are standing because it is full and they are just wanting to grab their coffee and go. They have a lot of local art work, glass work, and wood work to look at, and the smells....oh, my....the smells.....
Starting this week, Arrowhead Chocolates now has an online store that you can shop and have chocolates delivered right to your door! Does it get any better than chocolates in your jammies? I think not....
Visit their website at www.arrowheadchocolates.com and see what I am so excited about. Great business, great people, great chocolates.....yum!
When you come to Joseph, this is definitely a shop you must visit.
